Safari Blue Trip

Safari Blue trip starts from the village of Fumba a 20-minute drive from Stone Town. Fumba is the most convenient location for exploring the wildlife, isolated sandbanks and rugged island scenery of the Menai Bay Conservation Area.

Our aim is to provide our customers with a truly memorable experience using the best Zanzibar has to offer, while making a positive difference to Zanzibar and it’s people.
This trip starts from the village of Fumba in South West Zanzibar and we will take you to see thedolphins, sandbanks, islands and coral reefs of Menai Bay, a beautiful conservation area.
In the morning we set down on one of the beautiful sandbanks where one can relax, swim or snorkel. There are plenty of good quality snorkeling equipments and the experienced snorkeling guides will show you the pristine coral reef, which teems with tropical sea life. Instruction is also available for beginners, fresh coconuts and local snacks are available through out the day.

After snorkeling we go to Kwale island where we have our “desert island” restaurant. The buffet lunch includes fish, slipper lobster, calamari, rice and sauces all served hot from the grill. The crews also prepare and present a gastronomic fruits tasting with a large selection of delicious tropical fruits, ice cold sodas, mineral water and beer, a delicious Zanzibari seafood lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster, coffee and Amarula liqueur.

When the tide permits we explore the natural lagoon found on Kwale island. The lagoon is surrounded by a mangrove forest and we will take you swimming in the lagoon for an unforgettable experience

The dhows are traditional sailing boats, hand-built from African mahogany and finished to the very highest standards. They are comfortable and well equipped with outboard engine, VHF marine radios, gas inflatable life jackets, sunshade, boarding ladder, waterproof bags and first aid kit.

Wave board surfing

Wave board surfing

Our most popular trip is the famous Dongwe Doughnut surf trip. This trip combines three different activities in the beautiful waters right off Dongwe. Depending on the group size already the drive to the surf spot is a real african adventure. With a bit bigger group we rent a private Dalla Dalla, a local bus, that starts in Jambiani and collects all guests along the way. Depending on day and conditions we either start on the beach in Dongwe or Pingwe, a little further north on the southeast coast. Here we jump in a covered fiberglass boat packed with surfboards, snacks and water and start our salty adventure. First stop is in the deep water channels, where you get to experience our unique underwater wing. Equipped with a snorkel mask you get towed behind the boat holding on to the wing. The underwater wing brings you down deeply and in the same speed back up to the surface. Spins and dolphin-like moves are part of the fun and everybody gets the chance to try his or her mermaid skills. After an exciting session with the underwater wing we continue our way to Blue Lagoon, the by far best snorkel lagoon on the Southeast Coast. A lunch stop combined with some snorkeling await you here. Just with the change of tides we then make our way to Dongwe Doughnuts, our favorite surf spot as everybody will find a wave here. The advanced surfers can paddle to the outside section of the reef, where they can find a decent headhigh fun wave. With our beginner surfers and first-timers we stay in the inside section, where we have two spots with perfect beginner waves – Tamarin Rights and Jams. After a good surf and some fun waves we make our way back to the boat and beach. What a great day out in the water. This trip including transfers is about 4 – 5 hours long.

Kitesurfing

Planets tours is the place for kiteboarding on Zanzibar Island

Planets tours is set against the stunning background of endless blue Indian Ocean, beautiful white beaches and an African village where the pace of life seemingly hasn't changed for over fifty years.

The reef is far off-shore, after ample flat water, perfect for beginners and freestylers. The reef itself offers amazing waves for the more experienced kitesurfer.

The people are curious, friendly and welcoming, but most of all they teach us what we in the fast western world lost a long time ago…Hakuna Matata (no problem in Swahili) and Pole Pole (take it slow).

We believe Zanzibar is a truly unique place in the world to combine this extreme sport, with relaxing and discovering the raw beauty of this relatively untouched island. We cannot wait to teach you this fantastic sport and share our knowledge of these waters and surroundings with you!!!

KITESURFING IN ZANZIBAR IS AN UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCE!!!

Karibu Sana, Planets tours team!

Parasailing

Parasailing

Parasailing has evolved into a safe, easy and thrilling activity. It's an adventure anyone, from 8 to 80 years old, can enjoy because there is no running or jumping, and no experience is necessary.

The best views in Zanzibar - from the sky! From 300 meters in the air, see the brilliant colors of the coral reef around the northern trip of Zanzibar - stretching over 2 kilometers into the ocean. Parasailing in Zanzibar!

Gaze at the sandy, white beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa (rated top 10 in the world), surrounded by tropical trees, and dotted with resorts and local fishing villages.Your Parasailing Captain will provide safety and flying instructions to ensure you have a fantastic time in the safest way possible.

When it is your turn to parasail, you will be secured in a safety harness. You begin your flight seated on the back platform of the parasailing boat and your harness is attached to the parasail, which is already connected to the hydraulic winch system by a rope.

As the boat accelerates, the flight instructor will slowly release the rope and the parasail will gently pull you up. You will feel the parasail boat sliding out from underneath and - WHOOSH - you are up in the air flying!

You are safely and securely attached to the rope allowing you to float in the air and enjoy the thrill of flying and the amazing panoramic views of the island. The flight lasts approximately 10 - 12 minutes.

At the end of the flight, the hydraulic winch system will gently reel you back in until you land softly, like a feather, on the boat's platform. The staff will unclip you from the parasail and now you can sit back and enjoy the relaxing boat ride.

You will travel by car to the starting point of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP. Once there you will first receive a briefing (7.45am) and at 8.30am you will start the tracking. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend up to one hour with them! You will be expected back to the starting point by 7.00pm at the latest. Being physically fit is recommended.

It is always best to hear from other visitors, and this is Stella and Trudy’s story:

“At a distance of about fifteen feet a mountain gorilla with her baby appears. She comes out of the bushes, looks at me and lies down. My presence does not seem to bother her. She just wants to rest, whether I am there or not. I can almost touch her. My heart dances with joy. I am in a good position to take pictures, so I let my camera do its work. It is the thrill of a lifetime. I cannot but agree with the American zoologist George Schaller, the first to study gorillas in the Virunga volcanoes, who once said: ‘No one who looks into the eyes of a gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged.”

Diving Tours

Zanzibar is starting to become a holiday destination for divers from all over the world, divers who've already been, or don't want to go, to all the famous dive spots, attracted to Zanzibar and Pemba especially, for their untouched reefs.

Zanzibar (called Unguja) has a reef going all along its eastern coast, offering many diving possibilities. In the north-west, there are a few dive spots in the middle of the ocean, rich with reef fish as well as game fish. Mnemba atoll, in the north-east, is a special dive spot, famous for its visibility and turtles, as well as for the dolphins that are often to be seen in between the dives, and with whom everyone likes to snorkel. In October-November and January to March, whale sharks are seen cruising close to the reef. Stonetown also has a few dive sites to offer, particularly two wrecks (30 and 40 meters).

<span">Pemba unlike Unguja, is not a coral island, but a rocky one, which means that there are drop-offs all around the island, going down to 200 meters or more. The coral is beautifully varied and untouched, with amazing architecture, caves and tunnels, strong tidal currents at times, and always a lot of fish and some unexpected encounters like game fish (king fish, barracudas, wahoos, trevallies, mantas, big rays)! Visibility here can go to 50 meters.

Mafia still totally unknown, has a big marine park ( the southern half of the island ), supervised by WWF. The diving there will be of discovery, but always amongst big shoals of game fish and beautiful reefs.

Why safari in Tanzania?

Tanzania has more land devoted to national parks and game reserves than any other wildlife destination in the world. Everything from pristine coral reefs to the Crater Highlands, remote game reserves and the famous national parks are protected by government law and placed in trust for future generations to marvel at in wonder and awe. In addition to a listing of the main attractions of Tanzania, we have included many safari parks that are largely neglected in favour of the big names like Serengeti and Ngorongoro. It is our hope that in writing up these lesser-known locations, visitors may be tempted to include them on their itineraries and encourage tourism to other equally beautiful, parts of the country.

Lying just south of the equator, Tanzania is East Africa’s largest country, and an immensely rewarding place to visit. Tanzania has the world-famous attractions; the plains of theSerengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain) and Zanzibar, with its idyllic palm-fringed beaches and historic Stone Town. Yet there’s a whole lot more to Tanzania than these obvious highlights.

Almost everywhere you go on safari you’ll find interesting wildlife and inspiring landscapes (over forty percent of the country is protected in some form or other) ranging from forest-covered volcanic peaks to dusty savanna populated by elephants, antelopes, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Tanzania is one of the four most naturally diverse nations on earth: it contains Africa’s second-largest number of bird species (around 1500), the continent’s biggest mammal population and three-quarters of East Africa’s plant species (over ten thousand). Add to this the country’s rich ethnic diversity, some superb hiking and other activities like snorkelling and diving, and you have the makings of a holiday of a lifetime.

Tanzania Safari Deals

At any given time we have literally hundreds of special offers, deals and circuit discounts, far more than we can post here! Please take a look over some of the best below and contact us for a full list. Even if your preferred camp is currently not on offer we can still book it for you, often at a lower price than you would get direct.
